Turkish firm Karmod constructs container office buildings for defense project in Pakistan

ISTANBUL – Turkish modular building company Karmod has completed the installation of container office buildings at the Karachi shipyard for use in the National Ship Project (MILGEM) in Pakistan.

Yavuz Genc, general manager of Karmod, said that the firm is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of modular container construction and office buildings.

The MILGEM project, established in 2004 by Türkiye, aims to meet the country’s military ship needs. It also produces ships for Pakistan as part of agreements.

He said: “With our construction and office buildings, we serve major projects in many regions of the world, from energy to mining, from ports to road construction, and from commercial buildings to branded residences.

“We are particularly excited to be part of the defense industry project in which corvettes and ships are being produced simultaneously at the Istanbul and Karachi shipyards within the framework of the Pakistan MILGEM Project,” Genc added.

He noted that the firm had set up the container structures within the scope of the project in two separate areas at the Karachi shipyard and explained that Karmod had shipped the container offices, which were produced at the Tuzla factory facilities in Türkiye with fully demountable features, to Karachi.

According to Genc, Karmod established office buildings in two areas of the shipyard, overseen by supervisory teams.

“Our 42-square-meter offices will be used by the technical team of the company developing the Karinaya-mounted sonar unit for the Pakistan MILGEM project,” he said, and added that the company “also supplied the office’s interior needs, including furniture such as desks, chairs, and sofas, as well as air conditioning.”
